Editor's Take
By the Pogglo editorsA platformer that lies to you — floors move, traps spring, and the retry button becomes your best friend.
Level Devil belongs to the meanest and most lovable school of platformer design: the kind that teaches you a rule and then breaks it in your face. The goal of every stage is simply to reach the door, but between you and it the floor shifts when you least expect it and traps fire from spots that looked perfectly safe a second ago. The first death gets a groan; the tenth gets a laugh, because by then you understand the joke is the game.
What keeps the trolling fair is the rhythm of quick retries. A run at a stage takes seconds, restarts are instant, and each attempt banks a little knowledge about where the level intends to betray you next. Controls stay deliberately simple — move with A/D or the arrow keys, jump with W or Space, and on a phone the on-screen buttons do the same job — so every death reads as a lesson rather than a fumble.
The twist that stretches its life is the level editor: once you have suffered the built-in stages, you can build and test trap gauntlets of your own. It is free, loads straight in the browser with nothing to install, and sits proudly with the rest of our arcade games — just go in expecting to be lied to.
