Editor's Take
By the Pogglo editorsA mountain hot spring you visit rather than beat — mist, timber, bamboo, and nowhere you need to be.
Not every simulation wants something from you. Yugiri Onsen recreates a serene mountain hot spring resort and then simply leaves you alone in it: wander the intricate wooden buildings, watch day slide into night, and, when the mood takes you, sink into the water and stay a while. The name translates roughly to a mist-veiled inn, and the game spends all of its energy earning that image.
The craft is in the scenery doing quiet work around you. Steam drifts off the dynamic springs, bamboo groves frame the walkways, distant mountains hold the horizon, and a natural soundscape — worth headphones — replaces any score or objective ticker. Dedicated view modes let you pull back to a panorama, lean in close to the architecture, or settle into a soaking perspective, which turns sightseeing into the actual gameplay.
This is a mouse-and-keyboard experience — look around with the mouse, stroll on WASD, click to interact — so give it a desktop and an unhurried evening. When you eventually towel off, our other simulation games tend to ask a little more of you.
